Introduction and Terms of Reference
There is an increasing volume of
legislation affecting e-enabled business operations, and therefore
all businesses that trade online. It is important for
online traders to keep abreast of policy developments to ensure that
forthcoming legislation does not negatively impact their
businesses. EURIM is working with the E-business Regulatory
Alliance, an independent forum that enables a number of
organisations to work together to examine the impact of law upon
their e-enabled business operations. They provide
regular information on policy developments and help to influence key
decision makers. See http://www.e-ra.org.uk
Objectives:
EURIM's objectives are to support the E-Regulatory Alliance
(E-RA) in their work and to disseminate information so that EURIM
members and other parliamentarians can be involved in the
consultation process before it is too late to influence it.
More on E-RA's Policy Work
The E-business Regulatory Alliance
is examining in detail specific legislation, regulation and
compliance proposals that are of fundamental concern to online
traders. They are working closely with government to represent the
best interests of their members, and are also collaborating with
strategic partners to ensure their proposals and advice to policy
makers has the widest support from industry sectors and makes sense.
Further information on the forums in which their policy work is set
down - our Legal and Compliance Groups - is available at http://www.e-ra.org.uk/policy_work.htm
